SIAB MAKES A STAND ON BEHALF OF COELIAC DISEASE SECTOR DIALOGUE INTO NEW TECHNOLOGIES
The agro-engineering company of Antenore & Marco Speziali presents a machine for pre-cooking maize and rice allowing production of gluten free pasta for coeliac sufferers without needing chemical sizing. The partner in this operation is a flour mill in the Veneto region. In Italy, the number of coeliac sufferers has doubled in just four years. One per cent of the population is affected. CEO & Director General of VeronaFiere, Giovanni Mantovani: "Siab will also and especially focus on aspects linking the bakery, pastry, confectionery, pasta and pizza field with health questions, starting off precisely with coeliac disease."

VERONAFIERE SIGNS AN AGREEMENT WITH RUSSIAN BAKERS ITALY: WORLD LEADER FOR BAKERY MACHINERY
The agreement between VeronaFiere, the Russian Association of bakers and pastry-confectioners and Conoscere Eurasia was signed yesterday in Moscow during the II Italo-Russian Bakery Forum. CEO & Director General Giovanni Mantovani: "We aim to promote the sector through exports to Russia of Made in Italy products and technologies but also to support growth of bread, pastry and related products in terms of know how." Bakery products in Russia are worth 10.2 billion euros and growth of 10-12% is envisaged in 2012. Italian exports of machinery and technologies for bakery, pastry, confectionery, pasta and pizza in 2011 came to more than 36.4 million euros.

ONE WORLD UNION FOR BAKERS AND CONFECTIONERS DRESS REHEARSAL AT VERONAFIERE FOR UNIFICATION
Representatives of the two organs for bakers (UIB) and confectioners (UIPCG) are willing to implement a stronger, single union on an international scale. In the meantime, the President of UIB, Peter Becker, suggests that UNESCO should declare bread to be a "cultural heritage of humanity".

The role of Siab (International Bakery, Pastry, Confectionery, Pasta and Pizza Exhibition, scheduled in 2013) was vital in the choice of Verona as the home for the meeting of the Union Internationale de la Boulangerie, the organisation representing more than 300 thousand bakeries in a context ensuring more than 4 million jobs.
